Valley of 1000 Hills

We are staying near the Valley of 1000 Hills and today we drove along one of the scenic routes overlooking the valley.  The views are breathtaking  (hopefully, these photos give a glimpse and aren't distorted in some crazy way...)

The Valley of 1000 Hills is a tourist area so there are lots of cafes and craft shops.  We stopped at a few shops and did some souvenir shopping.  The Zulu people (Miranda's ethnic group) are famous for their bead work and they make beautiful bracelets, necklaces, belts, etc.   We also visited a leather shop and they had a zebra skin rug.  It was definitely not in my price range and I'm not sure I'd want to have a zebra on my floor!  Miranda was a trooper and did well in lots of little souvenir shops but we definitely have to work on the "look but don't touch" rule :)

We stopped at the grocery store and bought Miranda some beach toys which were great for the pool and the bathtub.  She is a little fish and loves to be splashing in the water.  Her favorite thing to do is to pour water from one container into another and then back again.   Miranda has started laughing a lot more and is getting much louder in the last 2 days.  She has a delightful belly laugh that makes me laugh.  I was chasing her in the yard today and she just squealed.

Tonight we were playing "where is your nose" and she pointed to her nose and my nose, and when we were skyping with my mom she even touched the computer screen to point to Grandma's nose.

She continues to learn more English every day.  However, at the stores a lot of the shopkeepers spoke to Miranda and asked her what her name was which is not a phrase she knows.  So, we'll have to practice answering the question "what is your name".   She repeats a lot of phrases that I say and tonight she repeated "I love you".
