Moving Forward

The official adoption paperwork arrived today so we can now move forward with the rest of the process.  We had to have certified copies of all the paperwork so we went to the Post Office to have this done.  I had a heart-stopping moment when the original jammed in the copy machine.  I was afraid that it would be torn and then who knows what the process would be to have it re-issued.  Thankfully, it was only wrinkled and did not tear!  We have an appointment for tomorrow to file the next set of forms.
Miranda learned how to go down a sliding board today.  There is a little indoor playground at the shopping center with the grocery store.  We had tried the slide the other day and Miranda was really hesitant.  Today she got into it and had fun going down by herself.  There were rock steps that she would climb up then she would run to the slide and slide down, then climb back up the steps.
Today, we started teaching Miranda to eat one bite at a time.  Her normal approach is to shovel  5 or 6 spoonfuls in her mouth at once.  We noticed that several children at the orphanage ate like this.  (Perhaps, you got more food if you shoved it in your mouth quickly.)  So, we are trying to un-do this behavior and teach Miranda to swallow each bite before taking the next one.  We kept telling her that her mouth had to be empty before the next bite.  At dinnertime she would take a bite, chew, swallow, then spread her arms out, yell “empty”, and open her mouth really wide to show me she was ready for the next bite!  I have a feeling it might take a while to get to more traditional family eating styles.

  1. Praying that the paperwork stays on schedule. Maybe Miranda will need an outside swing and sliding board. :-) Love you, Mom
